Biography

Welcome, my name is Doug Payne. I want to thank you for spending a little time here today. I hope to clarify my goals through

this site, and answer your questions. After looking through the site, if you have any remaining questions or comments please call or email me by clicking here, or check out the Blog here.

"I attribute Doug's success to his combination of classical riding background, athletic ability and soft kind   way  with    horses. At 6-foot-3, Doug is a big, strong guy with the

necessary physical strength to use when he needs it. Yet Doug's temperament is calm and quiet, not aggressive. The total effect is like an iron fist in a velvet glove."

Denny Emerson - World Championship team gold medalist who was recently inducted into the USEA Eventing Hall of Fame.

Personal Background:
Doug is a professional equestrian with a mechanical engineering degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology, currently based out of Misty Hollow Farm in Oldwick, New Jersey. He is a well known international competitor, trainer, judge and coach. With your help the 2012 Olympics are within his reach. For more information on DPEquestrian click here.

"The Means Justify the Ends"

At DPEquestrian horses are trained not only for eventing, but for dressage and jumping as well. Doug has extensive competition experience at the FEI levels of Dressage and Eventing as well as experience in both Hunters and Jumpers. Doug holds both USEF Judges and TDs licenses for Eventing. He is also a consultant for Dover Saddlery. Horses have long played an integral part of Doug’s family. Marilyn Payne, his mother, is a USEF “S” dressage judge and FEI Eventing judge. She will be one of the judges at the 2008 Olympics to be held in Hong Kong, China.

With your  help,  this dream
certainly     can      become

rom     taking      part     on personal    course     walks,

training sessions, and shows, You will personally experience the unparalleled partnership between horse and rider, and knowing YOU play a vital role in each successful competition. Support can come in many different forms, anywhere from partial to full ownership, financial [tax deducible 503(c)] or product support. As you can well imagine all of my successes have not come without hard work and financial backing from people such as yourself, for which I will always be humbled, indebted and appreciative. I would be honored to have your support on this journey; I can’t wait to have you along for the ride. For more information about joining this generous group click here.

Over the years I have trained and competed countless horses through the upper levels of both Dressage and Eventing. I thoroughly enjoy the challenges that riding new and different horses presents, and I try to ride as many horses as possible to give myself an even broader experience base to draw from in the future.

Early Beginnings:
At age 7, Doug joined the United States Pony Club which is a youth organization established to educate and promote horse sports to people under 21. He is a graduate 'A' rated Pony Club member, and donates as much time as possible to teach for his local club. The USPC has created a rating system from 'D' to 'A' in which the 'A' is the highest of nine increments and is the most rarely attained rating.

In 2000, Doug graduated from Voorhees High School of Glen Gardner, NJ with high honors, and was a member of the National Honor Society and the German Honor Society. He continued his academic success at RIT where he was a member of the National Scholars Honor Society, as well as the Dean's List in consecutive years.

At RIT, Doug was a member of the alpine ski team, and enjoys running and swimming as well as many other outdoor activities. In April of 2005, he completed the Big Sur International marathon, placing 15th in his division and 201st of the 4,500 participants in a time of 3:28. He tries to stay well rounded and is also an avid photography, car and computer enthusiast believing that although horses are definitely an integral part, they are not all there is to life.

Current Competition Horses:
At the present time Doug is competing his horses King 268 (Chester) and Rocket, a horse in partnership with Cindy and Randy Clover. He has a number of horses in training that will periodically be competing throughout the year.
